Psychic Police – Not Soy Good

October 12, 2009 by psychicgirl

From JJ Virgin’s Leanzine Newsletter
By Dr. Kaayla T. Daniel, PhD, CCN (New Trends, 2005) The Whole Soy Story: The Dark Side of America’s Health Food

Does soy prevent breast cancer or increase the risk? The debate heats up every October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Sadly, soy is not the ticket to breast cancer prevention or reversal. Indeed, numerous studies suggest that it can cause, contribute to, or accelerate the growth of cancer — especially breast cancer. Of course, this hasn’t stopped the soy industry from stepping up its efforts to feed women’s fears while urging health-conscious women to feed on soy foods, soy milk, energy bars and other products. Witness how Vitasoy will give away its soy milk in bright pink containers – called “Pinkies” – to women attending Komen Races for the Cure.

All soybeans – organic, commercial and GM – contain the phytoestrogens known as isoflavones. Although not identical to human estrogens, these plant estrogens are similar enough to fool the body, and can cause significant endocrine disruption. That can lead to a wide variety of symptoms, including thyroid disorders, reproductive problems, breast cell proliferation (a widely acknowledged marker of breast cancer risk), and even cancer itself.

The idea that soy isoflavones could prevent cancer is ludicrous given the fact that they are listed as “carcinogens” in many toxicology and chemistry textbooks. Furthermore, modern industrial processing techniques used to make soy protein isolate, textured vegetable protein and other modern soy products leave toxic and carcinogenic residues. Despite these well-known hazards, the soy industry makes the improbable claim that soybeans are the key to cancer prevention and reversal. After all, Asians have lower rates of breast cancer and “everyone knows” they eat a lot of soy.

In fact, Asians eat soy in very small quantities, as a condiment in the diet and not as a staple food. What’s more, they eat old-fashioned whole soy bean products such as miso, tempeh, natto and tofu, not the new heavily processed products sold by the soy industry such as soy milk, veggie burgers, shakes and energy bars.

The Israeli Health Ministry, French Food Agency, German Institute of Risk Assessment and Cornell University’s Center for Breast Cancer and Environmental Risk Factors have all warned women to “exercise caution” regarding soy consumption if they’ve been diagnosed with, or have a family history of, breast cancer. Clearly, possible benefits are far outweighed by proven risks.

The Whole Soy Story: The Dark Side of America’s Health Food, in this groundbreaking 457-page expose tells the whole soy story and the true soy story of why soy is not a health food, is not the answer to world hunger, does not prevent disease and has not even been proven safe.

Although soy is widely marketed as a miracle food, hundreds of epidemiological, clinical and laboratory studies link soy to malnutrition, digestive problems, thyroid dysfunction, cognitive decline, ADD/ADHD, reproductive disorders, immune system breakdown, even heart disease and cancer. Most at risk are children given soy formula, vegetarians who eat soy as meat and dairy replacements and adults self-medicating with soy foods and supplements.

PsychicGirl Sees My Future and Heals My Past
Original Post
By Britten · August 26, 2009

A couple weeks ago, LA’s PsychicGirl Justine Kenzer, was visiting NYC and asked if she could do my reading. Apprehensive at first, I checked out her website. What I discovered was a lovely intro written by Ms. Kenzer and a ton of press (including; NY Times, The Daily News, the London Times, VH1, E!, Glamour, and countless other reputable press sources) about her and the numerous celebrities for whom she’s done readings. In addition, she had met with my girls at The Luxury Spot, who adore this PsychicGirl.

I met Ms. Kenzer at a small cafe in the East Village. I was struck by her vivacious presence, extremely pleased she was not decked out in crystals, nor did she hint of patchouli (I did live in Venice Beach for several years). We ordered iced tea as she explained to me how it all works.

All readings are recorded for you, phone or in person. The recorded reading is sent you in by email link to an MP3 that you can listen to online, download to your own computer or ipod. Cool.

I felt completely comfortable and was ready for Ms. Kenzer to do her thing. She asked me to say my full name, as she would do an initial reading of what she saw.

What she saw, is so personal, that I cannot even disclose the details to you, my faithful readers. I had to bite my lip so I wouldn’t burst into tears. Obviously, she could read on my face that she touched on something. She explained that a large part of what she does involves healing.

I consider myself to be more of a healer who is able to provide spiritual healing which can quickly result in positive change in your physical world. I strongly believe that destiny is not set in stone, that we create our own reality through our thoughts and our actions, yet we can have unconscious limitations due to our past experiences and the memories of them.

That being said, Ms. Kenzer went on to see my professional future… which involved loads of travelling to some amazing places, perhaps even writing about my adventures. Therefore, I was completely willing and open to any sort of healing in order to fulfill that prediction.

Though Ms. Kenzer revealed a few general dates which would bring my professional and love life into fruition, any shrink will tell you that you have to accept, deal and heal your past, in order to move forward.

Honestly, Ms. Kenzer’s uncanny intuition regarding the skeletons in my closet, completely freaked me out. Yet, she was spot on and there is, without a doubt, something to be said for that.

Conclusion: Jot down some specific questions, and book an appointment with Justine Kenzer ASAP. Readings are available via instant message, phone or in person in Los Angeles.

PsychicGirl, Justine Kenzer is in town! Roll out the red carpet and make a little time in your schedule for this weekend, because this Los Angeles psychic celeb is here till August 20th and offering our readers a pretty sick discount.

All readings are recorded for you, phone or in person which is super helpful… because Justine will spew forth buckets of information and answer direct questions. Nothing’s vague. You ask “when will I change my job?” she’ll give you a direct answer of something like July 2010. You can ask if you’re going to move, she’ll tell you where and what the place will look like. You can ask about your love life, and she’ll tell you exactly what your mate’s education record is. She’s good. The recorded reading is sent you in by email link ito an MP3 that you can listen to on line, download to your own computer or ipod. Readings are available via instant message, phone or in person in Los Angeles or NYC this week.

There’s a reason that she’s been featured in the NY Times, The Daily News, the London Times, VH1, E!, Glamour, and countless other reputable press sources.

Normally she charges $200 for a complete reading (and you can ask WHATEVER you want), but because Justine is a dear friend of The Luxury Spot, you can book an in-person or phone session for $150. Hells yeah, 25% off knowing my future? (Special rate good for the month of Aug 2009 only).

SIGN ME UP.

PS – if you need a little proof, my personal testimonial is that she told me DETAILS about my business, my siblings, upcoming TLS events (good news, Heidi Klum is coming!), my new TV show, etc.

PsychicStyle – Trendcentral Style Report

August 4, 2009 by psychicgirl

From Trendcentral
MYSTIC CRYSTAL REVELATIONS
Fashion’s moon is moving into the seventh house

Gypsy chic is so yesterday in the fashion world. The truly trend forward are dumping their raggedy layers of crystal ball-gazing bohemian style in favor of a more futuristic, almost New Age, aesthetic. These are few of the looks being sported by members of the Age of Aquarius, circa 2009:

Crystal Point Jewelry: Those who’ve managed to hang on to their junior high jewelry boxes are scoring in the form of crystal point pendants that are once again in vogue. Popular in the ’90s among girls who probably had far more familiarity with a Ouija board than with tarot cards, jewelry once relegated to cultish spirituality shops is now being sported among the hipster set. While those who no longer have their prepubescent accessory collections are looking to eBay to recapture those nostalgic treasures; a number of current, more fashion-oriented, jewelry designers are creating in-demand modernist takes on quartz baubles. Unearthen’s still incredibly popular bullet-encased crystals have spawned countless similar pieces in the Etsy marketplace. We can’t say for sure who conceived the idea first, but the Etsy versions are certainly more in keeping with the budget afforded by a middle school allowance.

Intergalactic Prints: Florals may be all the rage this summer, but we think the next big trend in prints is going to be a more cosmic take on the natural world. Already seen in the form of celestial tie-dying techniques, as sported by Katy Perry in this Style.com blog post, outer space prints are showing up on and off the runway. Similarly far out, Shabd Simon-Alexander’s press-grabbing collection of hand-dyed cotton basics is inspired by Hubble telescope photos. And the Fall 2009 collection, entitled “Crystalarium” from rising indie fashion label Vena Cava, features glamorous holographic sequins and patterns that appear plucked straight from a planetarium by way of a prism. We expect the stars to align for constellation prints to soon join the trend.

Triangles: Geometry class’ most spiritual shape is suddenly de rigueur. Self-described “Band, Belief System, and Business” YACHT is very closely associated with the shape, both referencing it in their mission statement and even going so far as to hand out pamphlets, entitled Why Triangles?, that explain their appropriation of the triangle as a band icon. The universal mysticism of the shape is appealing not only in its openness to interpretation, but also in its aesthetic. Perhaps also born out of the Egyptian motif trend, bold triangle graphics are being seen all over the fashion landscape. Popular among the crowd along Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn designer Mary Meyer has become well-known for her hip triangle-printed wares, while even the controversial yet still undeniably trendsetting American Apparel recently introduced a triangle print to its roster. While it’s yet to over-saturate the design world, we’ll take the triangle over yet another deer silhouette any day.
